The visible words carry the mark. Paste any text and approve the substitution lexicon's low-stakes word choices. The page issues each source a distinct copy and reads a leaked sentence back to the copy it came from after it passes through a browser, a clipboard, and a CMS field.

This is the working build of the design from the essay. The lexicon, the sparse codebook, the HMAC derivation, and the detector all run in your browser. Keys and text never leave this page.

Paste an email, a contract clause, or a report. Suggestions come from a lexicon of 501 groups and 1037 interchangeable word forms: WordNet 3.1 synsets cross-checked against the Moby thesaurus, filtered by frequency, and reviewed row by row. Names, numbers, negation, and quoted text are left alone.

The approval step the essay requires: delete any site that reads wrong, or add your own with {baseline | alternative}. Each sentence is its own frame, and at most a third of its sites change (rounded up).

Issue copies

The key stays on this page. Anyone with the words, the source names, and the method still needs this key to compute a source's expected pattern.

The document id is part of the HMAC frame. A new release gets a new id, and every source gets a fresh pattern.

Read it back

Copy a row above, paste it, and identify it. Then keep only one sentence, or edit one carrier word, and run it again. Each sentence reads back on its own, and the matched sentences must agree.

What survives

A paste from a browser into an editor, rich text collapsing to plain text, line wraps, mangled whitespace, smart quotes, and stripped hidden characters all leave the carrier words alone. The detector normalizes them away before it looks for each sentence frame, and an excerpt still reads back through whichever frames it contains.

Paraphrase and translation remove the code. An edit outside the approved options breaks that sentence's frame. An edit to another approved option keeps the frame and can point at the wrong source, which is why the detector requires the matched sentences to agree. The essay works through the numbers.
